The next term of city government will be critical for environmental justice in Baltimore. Right now, community-led campaigns are building around polluting infrastructure like the BRESCO trash incinerator, the medical waste incinerator, and coal exports. By the end of the next term of city government in 2028, we’ll be within a few years of the end of the sewage infrastructure consent decree in 2030 and the end of the City’s current contract with BRESCO in 2031. The next four years will be pivotal for the infrastructure investments we need for cleaner water, cleaner air, and healthier communities in the city.
